Sean Duffy as transportation secretary

President-Elect Donald Trump Nominates Former Wisconsin Rep. Sean Duffy as Transportation Secretary

In a move signaling his continued focus on loyalty and media prominence, President-elect Donald Trump announced Monday that former Wisconsin Congressman Sean Duffy will be his nominee for Secretary of Transportation.

Duffy, a former reality television star and long-time Trump ally, served nearly nine years in Congress as a member of the Financial Services Committee, where he chaired the Subcommittee on Insurance and Housing. He left office in 2019 to focus on his family, including caring for his youngest child, who has a heart condition. Since leaving Congress, Duffy has remained in the public eye as co-host of Bottom Line on Fox Business.

Trump praised Duffy’s experience and personal connections in his statement, highlighting his plans to "rebuild our Nation’s Infrastructure" and usher in what he called "The Golden Age of Travel." Trump emphasized the nominee’s commitment to safety, efficiency, and innovation while promising a transformative travel experience for Americans.

“Sean Duffy is the husband of a wonderful woman, Rachel Campos-Duffy, a STAR on Fox News,” Trump said in a nod to Duffy’s wife, who is a prominent media figure.

Duffy’s background as a former lumberjack athlete and MTV reality star adds to his colorful resume. He appeared on The Real World: Boston in 1997 and later met his wife on Road Rules: All Stars in 1998.

The father of nine children, Duffy declined a run for Wisconsin governor in 2022, citing family priorities despite encouragement from Trump.

With this nomination, Trump continues to shape a Cabinet featuring figures known for their public profiles and strong ties to the administration’s goals. If confirmed, Duffy will be tasked with leading efforts to modernize the nation’s transportation systems while balancing safety and innovation.

Stay tuned for more updates as Trump finalizes his Cabinet picks.
